Dr. Sonson was born and raised in Hawaii. “I’ve always wanted to come back home to practice.” In 2001, Dr. Sonson was fortunate enough to open his practice in the beautiful town of Kailua, after several years as an associate in Honolulu. As Kailua Town is redefining itself, Dr. Sonson has also moved in October 2007 into a new state-of-the-art dental office in the new Straub Building.
Dr. Sonson is dedicated to offering current techniques and services to his patients. In order to achieve this level of service, Dr. Sonson and his staff take time off from their busy schedules to attend continuing education class both locally and on the mainland. Dr. Sonson is a Kailua dentist dedicated to staying “high tech”. He is also one of the first in Kailua to use digital x-rays, which uses less radiation. Dr. Sonson always tries to keep the patient’s best interest at heart. He uses the WIDIOM rule…”Would I Do It On Mom?” and applies it to all of his patients.
Dr. Sonson’s practice focuses on comprehensive dental care. He also offers cosmetic bleaching using Britesmile, Invisalign braces, and porcelain veneers and restorations. “It’s satisfying to see the smiles of patient’s after we transform their smiles.”
Dr. Ernest M. Lai
Dr. Ernest M. Lai has grown up in Hawaii with a desire to become a dentist since the third grade. His academic pursuits led him to graduate from the University of Hawaii with a Masters degree in Physiology. Dr. Lai subsequently completed his dental school training at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He further completed residency training at the University of Washington Medical Center where he attained certification for the treatment of medically compromised patients, high-anxiety patients, and dental emergencies.
Dr. Lai’s advanced training has prepared him for the treatment of children and adults in all areas of dentistry.
He is a member of various dental organizations in Honolulu including the Hawaii Dental Association and the Hawaii County Dental Association. Dr. Lai also donates his spare time to organizations such as the Aloha Medical Mission where he provides care to less fortunate individuals. He enjoys running, tennis, and occasionally shopping with his wife.
